They are busy valuating the offerings of gold and silver that have been deposited in the mandals' donation 'hundis' this year. Surprisingly, chiefs of the Lalbaug mandal claim not to evaluate the purity of the gold offerings, relying simply on weight instead. "We do not take responsibility for the purity of the gold and silver we receive. The Raja's cash count crossed Rs 8 crore on Wednesday and is expected to rise.
