Susan's choice
A LITTLE piece of New Zealand has gone home with Hollywood actress Susan Sarandon.
The Lovely Bones star found time before the movie's premiere in Wellington last month to pick out a sweet silver necklace by Auckland designer Misty Lang.
Sarandon bought the piece, featuring a pair of silver swallows tending a nest of blue pearl eggs, from fashion store Pixel Ink, on Cuba St.
Owner Rosalind Clark says no-one else spotted the Oscar-winning actress.
Clark says: "I wouldn't honestly have recognised her at all. It was only because her friend said `Susan'.
"Then I looked at her and I was like `holy s---!' And then her voice was American and the Lovely Bones premiere was the next night ... "
Clark says Sarandon picked the necklace as a Christmas gift for a friend. She liked the silver version but wanted the eggs in the nest to be blue, not white like the one on display. Clark promised her it was available in blue, hoping that it was.
"She was like, `Oh, that'd be great' ... I was crossing my fingers, hopefully I'd have it in the drawer, and I did. I was really stoked."
